A 4,000-person study published in a Society for Personality and Social Psychology journal indicates that having strong friendships and positive social interactions can counteract stress and improve a person's coping ability as well as their physical health. The study looked at smartphone and smartwatch check-in data as well as evaluations of participants' heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels and coping ability.
